Hi my name is Abriel and here is my two cents about “thinking”
Obviously, thinking is the intellectual activity of a subject’s consciousness. But what is it really? Do you have to be aware of what you’re thinking to be actually thinking? What if you were in a coma and there is brain activity… are you thinking? When I was young, I often hear my teachers, parents and older siblings say ” THINK” every time I ask a question that is seemingly obvious to them. But what are they really asking? For me to search through my brain for the answer…why did I even ask the question the first place..! However now that I’ve got a chance to work with kids, I realize that they simply didn’t ponder enough to grasp the answer.
As an ESTP (Myers Brigg Personality) I am a naturally a quick thinker and quite impulsive. I don’t usually panic and I can work under-stress. Also, since I play over 3 instruments, sing in a weekly basis, and love to draw I believe I am more a divergent thinker. Although my skills lean more towards a divergent thinker I do decently in activities that involve being a convergent thinker. People used to say work on your weaknesses, but I say screw your weaknesses and focus on your strengths because that is what you’re good at.
My best ideas and thoughts come to me in two different times:
1. When I’m trying to fall asleep and
2. In a “less intriguing” lecture.
My thoughts usually toss around in my mind like a tornado before I realize that I need to organize my thoughts and grasp each one in order. Realizing I need to organizing them is one thing, actually organizing them is another.
Every time I think hard and try to be suck every possible drop of intellect I think of the recent blockbuster movie – Limitless. <- Great movie about “thinking” by the way. It is about a man who discovers a pill that will unlock the full usage of the human brain and becomes essentially the brightest and most powerful man in the world within a week. Think about what you can do if you can simply “think” like that guy!
