If the 4th graders can achieve this, what can business students accomplish?

I do not usually watch the TED Talk videos. However, in my spare time, I browse the World Wide Web for new ideas and by accident, I stumbled upon the talk of John Hunter on the World Peace Game.

Teacher and musician John Hunter is the inventor of the mentioned World Peace Game. „The game is a hands-on political simulation that gives players the opportunity to explore the connectedness of the global community through the lens of the economic, social, and environmental crises and the imminent threat of war.“ (source: http://theworldpeacegame.com/)

Why am I dedicating this blog to a World Peace Game played by 4th graders instead discussing the philosophy of design thinking in the business community? Because one of the goals of the d.studio initiative is innovative and creative teaching. Teaching students in a different environment than the traditional business class. The expressions that John uses during his talk are that students can create, they can do what they want to do and have to dig up the answer themselves. The students make independent decisions but also use their collective wisdom and make their own conclusions.

This type of teaching represents creativity and design at its best. According to John Hunter, “The World Peace Game is about learning to live and work comfortably in the unknown.” In my humble opinion, that is exactly what the most successful businesses have achieved.
